The Ohio newspaper article is due out on Sunday. Wait until you see who is and is not talking to the press!

Remember in the Houston Press article Don Holbrook cried about the FBI raiding Lasalle and that being the reason he no longer had the MBA, MA in international finance and PhD. Well, that isn't the story I got from reading the Red Wing Port Authority minutes. Holbrook never had the degrees conferred on him to begin with as he didn't complete the course work. He used the designations knowing they were bogus and is still online calling himself a PhD.

This analogy came to me after thinking about, how the Earthquest time-line would play-out in the real world with a real boss.

(Employee)… Hey Boss I have a great idea, but first we’ll have to borrow millions of dollars that you will be responsible for paying back.

(Boss) … OK ..but this better be good. Are you sure this is going to work.

(Employee)…No problem Boss !! I got this, after all I am a professional.

5 years later

(Boss)… Hey Employee, I’m getting a lot of heat on that loan I took out for your project. Get in my office now! I need an update.

(Employee)… Well Boss, I’ve got good news and bad news.

The bad news is, We spent all your money. We took a lot of trips, ate a lot of food, and talked to a lot of people.. All we have to show for it is a construction company, that would like to help IF they find some extra money.

The good news is, I’m the only one who can “Fix” it.

(Boss)… WHAT !! ..You have 15 minutes to clean out your desk and vacate the premises. I have already notified Security.

Wow! Chris Brown of Contour thought Marlin Atlantis White / Whitestone / the failed developers were out unless they came forward with a huge check. Little did he know that they would be the ones with the option to buy back the Earthquest land from Lennar Homes / Friendswood. What a mess.

Holbrook of course was quick to blame Marlin Atlantis White for the problems with Earthquest. Did Holbrook and Frank McCrady not seek legal advice related to getting that bunch our of the Earthquest project completely as they should have? The public was told that Marlin Atlantis was out and Contour was the developer. If that is the case, Contour should be the ones with the option to buy the Earthquest property. Ridiculous!

The LinkedIn page is listing every project that isn't 100% closed...I don't see anything wrong with that.

Sounds like when you called the EMCID office, the secretary didn't have the info you needed -- I wouldn't draw any conclusions from that.

I like to see hard facts; speculation can be endless in this case...

jk,

You will love this. Holbrook changed his LinkedIn page again. Working for EMCID is no longer in the past. He lists that as a current position he holds. Hilariously, I called the EMCID office and they do not know if he is being paid and do not know if he is a consultant with them. What does the EMCID office know???

And, if he is in fact still working for Frank McCrady, who is the only one that can answer that I am told, then why is McCrady paying and / or working with someone who is threatening the citizens of Texas who wish to discuss this project and where tax dollars are being spent??? Pretty ridiculous if you ask me!

In May of 2011 Holbrook and McCrady were schmoozing Pahrump together. Holbrook's e-mail at that time to Pharump concedes that the land is in bankruptcy and the developer is bust, but against all logic he insists that Earthquest will break ground in December 2011 or early 2012. He is also adamant that the project has not been reduced in size or scope despite newspaper articles insisting it had been rephased to please some tire kicker investors.

Putting out fictitious ground breaking dates when no firm financing has been arranged happened frequently. Those folks that built hotels and invested in other business ventures based on those fictitious dates should be seeking legal counsel. What a mess!

I'd be interested to see how the statement below matches up to the timeline of the new information that's been uncovered. What was actually going on around the end of June 2011?

June 22, 2011:

"Before Brown and the board went into executive session to discuss the project, EMCID President Frank McCrady asked Brown if groundbreaking within nine months was a “reasonable” expectation.

“That is our plan,” said Brown."

Bad Luck,

Bad luck seems to follow some people around more than others. Bitter, angry people seem to invite it. Lighten up a bit and you will see that life doesn't have to suck all the time.

Happy MOTHER's day.

As I said, INCAPABLE.

It is not uncommon that project development is in a constant state of evolution until it complete. Obviously, anyone who ever said that EQ was going to break ground at any point during the last 6 years was wrong. Saying that you believe a project will break ground at a non-specific date is done on every project. If certain conditions prevent ground breaking from happening, it doesn't automatically mean that anyone is lying. Anyone who has the slightest clue (even from observing project development on the interment in one's spare time) would know that until an actual date is given for groundbreaking, nothing is set in stone - and even then an infinant number of things can happen to delay ground breaking. Even an middle schooled knows this.

As for re-phasing: 18 months ago EQ was re-phase in order to satisfy a potential developer. Obviously the re-phasing did not meet that potential investor's conditions so the development team decided to pursue an investor that would support the original plan. I am certain that this the primary mission of contour entertainment, but have no doubt that practical developers are going to be open to compromise especially at this point. The emcid has to deliver. If EQ has to be re-phased again or scaled back to land an investor, rest assured- they will. Happens all the time.

I think your main problem soapmom is that you are unable to understand that huge projects like EQ very often go through a series of changes from the time they are designed until they are completed. People, economics, politics, ect. will contantly force a project and it's developers to roll with the punches. Intelligent people already know this.

I have no doubts that this project will continue to evolve. Many people have a lot of motivation to see it through now. Reputations are at stake and you might be surprised at what people will do to save their reputations.

THIS IS THE POINT, WE SHOULD NOT BE WORRIED ABOUT WASTED TAX DOLLARS BASED ON PIPE DREAM IF BOARD HAD DONE ITS JOB IN FIRST PLACE. This was bad, bad, bad from beginning to now. In 2 years at next election it will be worse, more debt and still no park. And no Frank hopefully

Comment by: Soapboxmom on May. 13th, 2012 - 7:21pm
Ummmmm....

Holbrook indicated to Pahrump in writing that the project had not been rephased on May 201. He said flat out that groundbreaking was to occur in Texas by December 2011 or early 2012. He said emphatically that it was not reduced in size or scope. Are you saying your expert is wrong or lying to prospective clients, Happyland???

Soapmom - Your extreme ignorance of the theme park business, politics and the law becomes more obvious with every post. A billion dollars DOES NOT need to be secured before the project breaks ground. The project will be built in phases. The monitory amounts that you claim need to be secured is PURE FICTION. Even if the entire project breaks ground all at once, which it absolutely does NOT have to, the project can be built for must less than a billion dollars. No 6 year old link proves otherwise.

According to Don Lessum, the founder of earthquest and the person you are so proud of quoting said that Contour is actively seeking international financing for the project.

Yesterday's election will make no difference. The emcid board is still going to pursue the project. They have to. There are still enough members on the board that support the park and have a desire to see east montgomery county residents get a return on their investment. There are still enough members on the board who are deturmined not to allow the next 28 year of extra taxes be paid by residents with nothing to show for it.

I would not expect that the county will invest anymore money into the project, but they don't have to at this point. All that has to happen is that an investor comes up with enough funds to break ground on any part of the project - even if it is only a fraction of the overall plan.

This is what I mean when I say ignorance. There are all kinds of creative ways to get this project started - and soapmom is absolutely incapable of comprehending them with her obvious lack of business expertise.

To mom's fans: Do you really think mom will continue to fight (I mean blog) on behalf of getting east Montgomery county residents taxes lowered when this is all over? Do you really think that mom's efforts are going to do more for the community than the revenue EQ has the potential to bring in?

I highly doubt that mom is going to lose any sleep over how much money Montgomery county residents are going to be paying for the next 28 years.

YOU MUST BE ON CRACK, EQ IS AS DEAD AS WHEN IT STARTED AND THE BOARD IS FROZE FOR ALL PRACTCLE PURPOSES AND WISE IS A WINNER LIKE COMMUNITY BECAUSE 3 NEW MEMBERS ARE ON AND ONE IS ALREADY FLIPPED WHICH MAKES 4 AND WE CALL THAT A TIE. @Happyland

Earthquest will only be coming if something close to 1 billion dollars can be raised. Don Holbrook was hired in 2007 to raise the money:

www.chron.com/CDA/archives/archive.mpl/2007_4467685/east-montgomery-county-improvement-district-direct.html
East Montgomery County Improvement District directors approved contracts for services to the district.

These ranged from site surveying to retaining consulting services in connection with the Earth Quest theme park project at a special directors meeting Nov. 7.

The directors will retain Don Holbrook and the Vercitas Group for consulting services in connection with the for-profit theme park portion of the Earth Quest project.

Under the terms of the $25,000 contract, Holbrook will provide the district with outside consulting services connected with securing financing and investors, said Frank McCrady, EMCID president and CEO.

"We want to make sure he stays with the project and makes the presentations," said McCrady.

Holbrook has already been working with the project's promoters, founders and the district and was actively involved in the process that selected the site of the Earth Quest venture.

That expert is being sued in Huber heights Ohio. He hasn't raised a cent for Earthquest on the for profit side. He is busy pulling his videos and sweeping his claims of 100s of projects worth billions of dollars that created 50,000 jobs under the rug. The litigation may force him to substantiate all that as the EMCID board should have done in the first place as he has made those claims for years and was made a fellow member of the IEDC based on that unsubstantiated BS in 2008. McCrady went to the ceremony. Notice Don Holbrook has no projects under construction anywhere and hasn't had for years as far as I can tell.

Contour has incredibly talented ex- Disney imagineers, but they have never done fund raising like this. Chris Brown was supposed to show up at a March meeting and update. He isn't showing because he doesn't have the funds raised and probably never will.

So, just what experts??? Who can carry this forward? It can't move forward (Take a drink) without 600 million to more likely 1 billion dollars. Where are the investors????
